Welcome to the 2004 Socal Blues Cup

GENERAL INFORMATION

The Southern California Blues Soccer Club invites your team to participate in the 2004 Blues Cup for premier girls soccer teams. The tournament will be held September 4th to 6th (Labor Day Weekend). This is a Class 1 Tournament open to USYSA and FIFA affiliated teams. We are determined to assemble the most competitive teams from both inside and outside the State of California to make your experience meaningful.

Location: Games will be held in the beautiful Saddleback Valley in the cities of San Juan Capistrano and Laguna Niguel.  Locations feature manicured, level, playing fields, and fresh ocean breezes. The locations are Rancho Capistrano, the Blues main practice facility with five full sized fields and one short field, the San Juan Sports Park /Marco Foster Middle School Complex consisting of 6 full size fields with ample parking, the beautiful Cooks Park, and Crown Valley Park.

San Juan Capistrano and Laguna Niguel are centrally located (half way between Los Angeles and San Diego) in Southern California and are in close proximity to Disneyland, Anaheim Stadium (home of the California Angels), Lego Land, Knotts Berry Farm, Sea World, the San Diego Zoo and many other fun attractions. Spend your Labor Day vacation playing in our ocean breezes and on our pristine beaches, while participating in a competitive soccer tournament.  It's the real O.C.!

Eligibility:
CREDENTIALS: At the Mandatory Registration, teams must provide the required credentials. All U.S. teams must provide laminated USYSA Player I.D. Cards with photographs, and signed Medical Release Forms. Teams from outside CYSA-South must also provide approved Travel Papers which must include a roster listing all players authorized to travel. Proper Player Loan Forms will be required at Registration along with other required credentials, as required by the team’s State Association. All teams must provide the USYSA Player I.D. Cards from the State Association listed on this Application. Player I.D. Cards from any other Association will not be accepted.

ROSTERS:
Teams may register a maximum of eighteen (18) players (14 for U8, U9, & U10). A team may use up to five (5) guest players but any team utilizing guest players is still limited to the eighteen player (14 for U8, U9, & U10) maximum.

Format:
Each age group will consist of three or four (3 or 4) Brackets of four (4) teams. Each team will play the others within the Bracket for a total of three (3) preliminary games. In the three (3) Bracket division the winner of Bracket A will play the Wildcard Team in Semi-Final Game 1, and the winners of Brackets B and C will play in a Semi-Final Game 2. The Wildcard Team will be the second place team with the most points or tiebreakers. If the Wildcard Team comes from Bracket A, then the Winner of A will play Winner B, and the Winner C will play the Wildcard. In the four (4) bracket group The winners of Bracket A and Bracket C will play in semi-final Game 1, and the winners of Brackets B and D will play in a Semi-Final Game 2. Semi-Final winners will meet for the Championship.

Awards:
All Players and Coaches will receive a Tournament Brochure and Pin. Individual award medals will be presented to teams finishing in 1st and 2nd place in each age group along with a Champion Team Trophy.


Entry Deadline:
Entry Deadline: July 25. Acceptance letters will be mailed out by July 31. Refunds will be made to all teams not accepted. Teams withdrawing after acceptance will not receive a refund. A cancellation fee of up to one-third of the entry fee will be withheld from each team’s refund if the tournament is cancelled as a result of weather or acts of God.

Team Selection Criteria:

Teams will be selected on the basis of their performance in National Cup Play, preference given to Snickers over Open, and on their overall league performance, with preference being given for higher levels of League play (i.e. in order of preference - Premier, Gold, Silver Elite, Silver, Bronze).

Registration:

The Blues Cup Mandatory Friday Night Credential Check-In and Reception has been moved to our Crown Valley Field location, in the Community Center View Room.  Light buffet dinner will be served.  Please remember to bring 2004-2005 Laminated Player/Coach ID Cards, Medical Release Forms, and travel papers or US Club Soccer credentials for non-CYSA South teams.

We are asking all teams to register on Friday night between 6:30 and 9:30 PM. at our Crown Valley Field location, in the Community Center View Room.   

Crown Valley Field Driving Directions:  From the 5 Freeway Southbound take the Crown Valley exit and turn right.  From the 5 Freeway Northbound take the Crown Valley exit and turn left.  Travel 3 miles to the Crown Valley Soccer Fields and Community Center (located on the right between La Plata and Niguel Road.)  Turn right on Community Park and look for the Blues Cup Banner.

Saturday morning registration will be for hardship cases only and by appointment at the Rancho Capistrano Field #3 between 6:30 and 9:00 AM.
Rancho Capistrano Field Driving Directions:  From the 5 Freeway Southbound take the Avery exit and turn right.  From the 5 Freeway Northbound take the Avery exit and turn left.  Turn left on Camino Capistrano and go 1⁄2 mile to the Rancho Capistrano entrance (on the right.)  Proceed to the first parking lot on the left for registration.
